It is a pleasure to welcome you to the historical city of Maastricht for the Euro PM2019 Congress & Exhibition.
Maastricht developed from a Roman settlement to a medieval religious centre. In the 16th century it became a garrison town and in the 19th century an early industrial city. Today, the city is a thriving cultural and regional hub.
EPMA cannot compete with the long history of Maastricht, but it is a very proud Association celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2019. The organisation was founded back in 1989 by some powder metallurgy (PM) pioneers who wanted an official strong representative for the industry. Their work has in many respects lead to where we are today - a successful organisation working hard to promote the PM industry.
The Netherlands is an early adopter of new technology. Several successful initiatives that we currently use today in metal additive manufacturing (AM) originate from The Netherlands. Metal Injection Moulding (MIM) and Cutting tool production are other example of a successful PM industry represented in this highly technological country. Euro PM2019 offers a unique opportunity to share the latest trends in powder metallurgy. The extensive technical program provides you access to the latest results in key PM areas and the exhibition showcases the latest developments from the global PM supply chain. On top of this Euro PM2019 offers a lot of networking opportunities.
Finally, I would like to thank all involved in making this a successful congress starting from EPMA organisation to all volunteers and Members who have supported the production of the event.
Welcome to Maastricht
Ralf Carlström
